It is over hyped place. The journey from shillong to dawki river is very bumy . To spent just 1hour its not worth . Water is transparent for only few place and local people washes cloth with detergents inside the river. Only recommended to adventurous people

Such a terrible experience- the road into Dawki was narrow, crowded with trucks, and impossible to get through. The place itself is infested with people, even on a weekday. The water and boating experience itself was nothing special, and definitely not worth the effort. Contrary to popular opinion, the river was not very clear, and there was no marine life. Getting a boat involves a harrowing ordeal, and overall Dawki was a mismanaged locale, and a wasted afternoon.
